Skeletons in the Closet
“Skeletons in the Closet.” Is a weird phrase.
At the time it was first used, did people make a habit of killing people and then putting them in their closets?
“Oh, I guess I’ll just never use that closet again. Problem solved. No one will ever investigate, because this is the past and people are stupid.”
A medieval realtor probably first coined the term.
“And over here we have beautiful closet, to store the bodies of any people you happen to kill.”
Plenty of people didn’t kill other people, though. They discovered you can keep clothes in the closet, too. Who knew?
